April 21st, board members and guests joined at Breada Bread in Lincoln to discuss NWG business.
The Spring Conference April 11th and 12th at Mahoney State Park was successful and plans have already begun on the Spring 2015 conference. Board members and guests present discussed what we could do to improve future conferences-what worked and what didn’t. Our Fall Conference 2014 is located in Seward, Nebraska October 10th and 11th. Its shaping up to be another awesome addition to Nebraska Writers Guild.

Another matter discussed was the coming vacate of the Publishing Chair position-Thank you to Greg Hall, who has worked so hard for NWG organizing the Broadside and the Bulletin. Another giant thank you to Elizabeth Metz who has stepped up to make sure those publications continue to be as great as they’ve been in the past.

Nanette Day has volunteered to be our Social Media Chairperson. Nanette has already been working to bring the NWG into the social media spotlight. Her efforts are sure to add another avenue to the benefits of NWG membership.

Our membership roster continues to grow-with paid members rising over 200. With that membership, we’re preparing for great learning and promotional experiences like Write Across Nebraska in July-more information will be available soon. We also want to remind everyone about the Nebraska State Fair-your chance to showcase your work in front of thousands. Charlene Neely is again organizing the business of getting our NWG booth ready for that event.

The NWG board members discussed goals for 2014 and routes we can take as a group to help our members succeed.
Our website continues to be a great tool for our members and there are more additions to that on the rise. The board discussed ideas about adding want ad type areas for those seeking critique partners among other things to increase the benefits of the member’s only sections.

As a reminder, all notes for the Broadside are due to Greg Hall/Elizabeth Metz by May 5th. Let all out members know your accomplishments! Also, please make sure board members have your current mailing and email address to assure delivery of our publications.

The complete minutes of the April NWG Board meeting will be available in the next Broadside.
